Hattie Zobott, PE

Growing up on a small cattle ranch in southern Idaho, Hattie learned about hydraulics by running a shovel and flood irrigating the pastures.  She learned from her father the number one rule of water in open channels, “Water doesn’t flow uphill.”  Her life on the ranch and love of math, science, and art lead her to pursue engineering at the University of Idaho so that she could one day help build beautiful bridges.  She found her passion in hydraulic design and focuses on hydraulic and water resources engineering.  During her career she has designed groundwater recharge facilities, water measurement devices, weirs, groundwater wells, fish passages, water supply pipelines for drinking water and irrigation, storm drainage, wetlands, bank stabilization, erosion control measures, and gravity lines.  Hattie has completed complex water right processes including changes to beneficial use, permitting new water rights, water supply bank leases, and place of use and point of diversion transfers.  She also has extensive experience in engineering reports, memorandums, jurisdictional permitting, and grant writing related to water resources and hydraulic projects.  Hattie and her husband are both water fanatics and love all forms flowing and frozen.  They are raising their three kids to love Idaho as much as they do by taking them camping, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, rafting, and most importantly skiing.
